RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

The Pursuit of Happiness

How to find greater happiness within yourself

Yogis seek to find that true happiness which resides within. Ramakrishna Ananda discusses what keeps us from finding ongoing happiness. He encourages seekers to go through the levels of meditation to the inner self. It is here that we will find ananda — abundant, ever-new joy.

First Steps, Happiness
  • How your pursuit of happiness is progressing
  • You are meant to live in continuous, ongoing happiness
  • When you’re not living in ongoing happiness, it is because you are stuck in what yogis call kama — looking outside yourself at friends, food, mate, children, work, music, etc., for happiness
  • Learn how you can progress from the angst of pursuing happiness to calmness, then bliss and ecstasy and, ultimately, ever-new joy
  • The secret to going beyond kama and finding ever-new joy inside yourself
  • Two yoga techniques for letting go of kama and experiencing ongoing happiness and joy

Wisdom from the Gita

Quoting Chidbhavananda, in his commentary on the Bhagavad Gita:

“When the mind is pacified by relinquishing all the kamas, the blissful true self, the blissful atman, the true self, is realized in its original glory.”
