RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Who is the Doer?

Deep peace comes when we let go of the “I am the doer” attitude

This is the conclusion of a five-part Work Series. In ignorance, people are convinced they are self-caused and self-powered. A yogi overcomes his/her false sense of self.

Spiritual Development, Work, Peace
  • Sri Ramakrishna taught that we are instruments through whom God works
  • Releasing the sense of agency allows us to shed limitations and realize the presence of Spirit
  • Notice and appreciate this higher power which makes your heart beat and your breath move
  • The viewpoint that “I am the doer” is spiritual ignorance
  • Discover the deep peace that is realized when we release the false sense of agency

"I Am the Machine, You Are the Operator"

All these ideas of “I am the doer” are begotten of spiritual ignorance. Think, instead, “I am the instrument and You, Lord, are the operator.” That’s higher knowledge. In this knowledge, all the limiting ideas of “I am the doer” fade away. What results? Deep peace comes as we release “I am the doer.”

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

I Commit to Serve
