Jnana (wisdom) yogis seek to release desires. Immoderate desires and aversions increase selfishness, intensify the ego and block contact with the inner self. Learn how to take a desire break and withdraw energy from both positive and negative desires. Discover the peace and bliss which comes when you are desire-free.
Take a five-minute desire break. Whenever a desire comes into your awareness, release it. Do not think about it or put energy into it. Negative desires are called aversions — shed those too. Both what you want and what you don’t want are desires. Practice enjoying five minutes being desire-free.
The practice of being desire-free leads to peace as your body and nervous system relax. Ecstasy, bliss and spiritual energy can fill your nervous system when you allow it to rest from desiring. Desire breaks can lead to a wonderful state of fulfillment.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
