RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Yoga Replaces the Impostor

Free yourself from old habits and find your true self

The great yogi Sri Aurobindo wrote about freeing the impostor and expressing who we really are. Discover how reorienting and liberating oneself by freeing the physical, vital and mental/emotional aspects of our being allows us to know and express our true selves.

Yoga Perspectives, Sri Aurobindo
  • Sri Aurobindo wrote about reorienting and liberating the counterfeit self
  • Yoga involves shedding the counterfeit self and expressing your true self
  • To substitute the false self with the true self, Sri Aurobindo taught to:

  1. Free the vital — consider the true self is guiding the breath
  2. Free the physical — your body is not you but is an instrument of the inner self
  3. Free the mental/emotional collection — you are not the mind but you use the mind

Oneness with the True Self

Yoga means union, oneness or wholeness. We naturally seek union, oneness, with our true self. In order to realize oneness, we need to harmonize the vital life force within us. We want to be conscious of vitality moving and expressing from the Divine into our daily life. We also strive to have thoughts that reveal the nature of our soul. In addition, we want the body to be an instrument of our true self, rather than the ego. Our mind needs to be free of confusion and ignorance of Spirit.
