Sri Ramakrishna taught that yoga occurs when Spirit attracts you. He showed how to clear away ignorance of the false self and allow the growing attraction of Spirit. As you devotedly practice yoga, be open to this happening.
The individual self experiences the state of yoga when it is attracted by the Supreme Self (God). The Supreme Self is the magnet. The individual self is like the needle of the compass. If the needle is free of debris, it easily and naturally points at the magnet. But if there is clay on the needle, it won’t point at the magnet. For attraction to happen, the needle must be free of the clay of the world.
