Ramakrishna Ananda refers to chapter 5 of the Bhagavad Gita: The karma yogi offers his/her work and then himself/herself to the Lord. He or she seeks to realize they are but an instrument in the hands of the Lord and that God’s love and light are moving and expressing in their lives. Karma yoga can take them all the way to enlightenment.
In sannyas yoga, you’re not only offering your work, you’re offering yourself. Karma yoga is the attitude, “I’m offering this work to you, Lord.” This develops into, “I’m offering not just the work, but myself too.” That’s advanced karma yoga. Not only offering the work but, as you work, offering yourself. It’s an inspired, enriching, empowering way to work.
