RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Chinmoy Dham, Chinmoy Ham

Why do yogis chant mantrams?

Mantrams (mantras) can calm your mind and take you to superconscious awareness. They are marvelous aids in meditation and can take you from objective, outward consciousness into spiritual awareness. Enjoy chanting Chinmoy Dham, Chinmoy Ham (This place is Spirit and I am Spirit too). Allow the mantram to reveal the peace and joy of your true self.

Mantra Yoga

Abide in the Flow

Mantrams are designed to take us to superconscious or spiritual awareness. Through them one can bathe in the Infinite and return renewed, refreshed and more aware of Spirit.

We are going to chant the mantram Chinmoy Dham, Chinmoy Ham:  This place is Spirit and I am Spirit (conscious energy) too. Focusing on the meaning helps meditators to understand where the mantram can take them. Starting from our present awareness, we allow the mantram to lift us beyond the mind to a higher level of consciousness. Peace and spiritual awareness come as we abide in the flow of the mantram.

  • Mantra is the Sanskrit word; mantram is the Hindi term
  • The use of mantrams leads to interiorization. Start chanting out loud, then go to whisper, mental, effortless mental
  • When you are aware of words and syllables, you are still in the mind. When the words drop off, you have gone from the mind to soul, the Spirit within
  • Mantrams are cosmic syllables which rescue the mind
  • Mantrams allow for the experience of one’s true self
