Jnana yogis realize that the soul, the Infinite Spirit within, is the true nature of every person. The main practice for contacting and attuning with the soul is to develop seer awareness. Practicing seer awareness can lead to the realization of the true self, the purusha. The more you abide in the seer, distinct from the mind and ego, the more Spirit is able to express through you.
The main jnana yoga practice leading to spiritual realization is the development of witness consciousness. First, calmly observe the exterior world. Then, close your eyes and watch your thoughts and feelings. As you abide in seer consciousness, you discover that your true self, the soul, is Spirit — eternal, pure and painless.
Your inner self, the purusha, seeks to express itself, reducing the misery and suffering of those around you. Practicing the seer technique leads to the development of sympathy/empathy and the reduction of selfishness. As you begin to know your soul, you find it wants to do good for all people and all creatures.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
