Jnana yoga states that even though we appear to be separate individuals, we are all part of one great Being. Swami Vivekananda explains that desires are the cause of most of our misery. The solution is to give up the idea of proprietorship and adopt the attitude of stewardship. The reality is that everything is made up of Spirit expressing in different ways. Discover how living as the caretaker — not the owner — changes your relationships and quality of life.
Swami Vivekananda teaches that the cause of most misery is our desire nature. When our desires are not fulfilled, the result is distress. Feeling unhappy or troubled? This is often because what we wanted or expected didn’t happen. Unfulfilled desires are usually the cause of anger.
The way out of desires and their resulting misery is to know the truth about property and ownership. Everything is made up of Spirit expressing in different ways. Look upon your property with the attitude: It doesn’t belong to me or anyone. It belongs to God. Give up the idea of proprietorship and foster the attitude of stewardship. View yourself as the caretaker of all that you have. When you adopt the realization of stewardship, you will likely prosper and enjoy a rich, full life.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
