Through dedicated yoga practice, especially wisdom (jnana) yoga, we can gradually discover our spiritual essence. One technique is to release all thoughts and feelings until we arrive at our spiritual core, the soul. Swami Vivekananda’s method of teaching jnana yoga was to start with soul — to focus on the desire to know the source of light and life within. So, how does one become aware of pure being?
Gradually, as you practice jnana yoga, you will find you are pure being, pure Spirit, and (in several ways) beyond the limitations of nature.
Through meditation and other practices, one transcends the false sense of self and contacts the inner light. One method is to chant: nahang nahang, tuhu, tuhu. It means not I, not I, but You, but You. We are seeking to take the focus off the ego and put it on Spirit. Chanting in Sanskrit often focuses more energy than using the English translation. As you chant, encourage your inner self to come forth, to reveal itself and shine.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
