RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Doing Your Part in the World

How to be free and enlightened through work

This is part three of a five-part Work Series. The Bhagavad Gita contains important advice and inspiration about work:  1) Do your best and leave the results to God. 2) Put the responsibility where it belongs — with the Infinite Spirit. 3) Work for the soul, not the ego. The Gita reveals that as we play our part, working in this manner, we will be free and enlightened through work and action.

Playing Your Part

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna is counseling Arjuna:  Prepare to act, to fight, Arjuna, throwing the responsibility where it belongs — with the Infinite Spirit and God’s will. With your mind free from egotism and selfish expectation but centered upon the real self, engage in the task, the battle before you. You, who constantly follow this teaching with confidence and faith, shall be made free and enlightened. Even by your works and actions you will be enlightened. Do your best, center in Spirit, leave the results to Spirit and play your part.
