An important function of being alive is the ability to learn. Through life’s experiences, we learn and create samskaras (impressions in our nervous system) which become habits. Yogis seek to create new samskaras and form beneficial habits which lead to happiness and fulfillment. Learn how to create new patterns and change your life.
An important part of living is learning from the effects of our actions. We become aware of how our speech and actions affect others. We are able to sense the one universal self, the soul, as we develop.
Ultimately, we learn there is only one universal life manifesting in all people and all creatures. The realization that the same life within us is also alive in others is called the mahat atman state. As a result of cause-and-effect relationships with many people, we gain an expanded sympathy and respect for the way others feel. This is one of the steps of knowledge which every yogi eventually gains. It brings the experience of profound empathy and joy.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
