RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Life and Death

Are you making the most of your life?

We have been given the gift of life. Our bodies, however, one day will pass away. During our time here we have the opportunity to realize and express spiritual values. Yoga provides practices which help us grow on the spiritual path. An essential question is:  What are you going to do with this life? Discover a key to making the most of your life.

Sunday Morning Talks, Shakti/Spiritual Energy

The Divine Mother

In the view of yogis, Brahma is the Infinite Consciousness, God the Father, out of whose being everything comes. Shakti is the dynamic movement within that Infinite Substance. It is the power of creation often called the Holy Spirit or the Divine Mother.

It is Shakti which empowers us to grow and experience higher consciousness. Some people describe this force as Chit Shakti, meaning creative conscious energy. You can grow on the path and live as a spiritual being by inviting more Shakti into your life. A key to success on the spiritual path is the ability to welcome, accommodate and maintain this powerful, dynamic force.

  • Yoga teaches many different ways to grow in awareness and relate to Shakti (Holy Spirit, Omnipresent Spirit, Divine Mother)
  • Sri Ramakrishna taught that the easiest and fastest way to grow spiritually is to approach God as a child who needs his/her mother
  • Christ explained that we must be like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven and live as spiritual beings
  • To have a relationship with the infinite, dynamic power of Shakti, we need to approach It humbly like a child
  • We grow in our ability to live in Shakti through practice of the yamas (non-violence, non-truthlessness, non-stealing, non-sensuality and non-greed)
