RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Why Do Yogis Say "Jai?"

Would you like to encourage goodness and truth in others and yourself?

Jai means victory. When yogis say jai, they are encouraging goodness, love and truth to express. Discover how you can have a victorious life and represent Spirit in a truthful, kind, strong way.

Yoga in Daily Life, Goodness, Companionship
  • Jai means victory
  • Yogis fight battles very differently from most people
  • Ahimsa:  We may assume that the practice of nonviolence requires us not to fight, but yoga teaches us to stand up for righteousness
  • Learn practices to increase courage
  • Matthieu Ricard (Buddhist monk and author):  What counts is not the enormity of the task, but the size of the courage.

How Do Yogis Fight?

Yogis attune with God and goodness and take a stand, fighting if necessary. Do you? Then jai to you! But yogis fight battles very differently from most people. We fight, but we don’t hate and we try not to hurt. We care about our foes and their welfare. By fight, we mean engage, face, deal with, represent truth and goodness and, if possible, not to hurt, shame or oppress. In using the term  fighting, we mean representing Spirit in a thoughtful and kind, but also strong and dedicated manner.
