Through bhakti yoga (the yoga of devotion) we can develop a personal relationship with God. The Lord, concerned with our feelings, thoughts and cares, wants to interact with us. We can live in a state of relatedness, where we have an ongoing interplay with Spirit — our spirit flows out to the Lord and the Infinite Spirit comes into us. As we relate to the Infinite in a personal way, six precious treasures are given to us.
In the view of yoga, we are on this planet to learn to love. Yoga practice is designed to reveal our true self. Love, the essence of our being, is also the essence of Spirit. Yoga teaches that everything is filled with Spirit. Harmonizing body, mind and spirit leads to the discovery of both our own soul and that of others.
Through yoga practice we may have many beautiful awakenings. We realize that it is Spirit which gives us consciousness, ever-new joy, ecstasy and bliss. We see that everything is filled with Spirit and that its main quality is love.
Relating to God through bhakti yoga, ideally one is open to receiving these six treasures:
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
