The Sannyas Motive

How to transform old habits through daily activities

Sannyas is an attitude of renunciation, non-attachment to the material world, which greatly accelerates transformation. There are many opportunities to practice sannyas, the giving of yourself for the benefit of others, every day. Discover how a sannyas attitude frees the ego and enriches your life with love and ever-new joy.

Spiritual Development, Helpful Qualities, Habits, Selfless Service

A Partner in the Divine Play

Live with the sannyas attitude and motive, “For You, for You, for You.” It helps to soften your ego and let Spirit shine through. You get the giver’s high. You have realized what your soul wants to express. You are now cooperating with your soul and allowing it to shine forth. The sannyas attitude welcomes your true self to come into your awareness and make beautiful things happen in your life and in the lives of others.

  • Sri Ramakrishna taught that life is God’s divine dance and that we each have a part to play
  • Yoga brings many transformations: our hearts become free to love, our minds become clear and focused
  • Yogis experience bhavas, moods of love, and samadhis, absorptions in higher consciousness
  • Sannyas is an attitude of renunciation which opens us to spiritual realization. “Everything I do, I want it to be for You, Lord, for You.”
  • God does His great work through people when they are attuned and open to Spirit

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

I Commit to Serve

This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
