The term guru can be defined simply as teacher. But satguru means spiritual guide, dispeller of spiritual ignorance. Satgurus have three functions: 1) as guides; 2) as dispellers of delusions; and 3) as matchmakers who assist the seeker in having a closer relationship with Spirit.
That’s what being a Guru is about, guiding people to discover their spiritual natures and Spirit everywhere. We dispel darkness, ignorance, confusion and suffering. Also, we are matchmakers, helping seekers enter into a relationship with the Divine.
