RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Yoga Chanting — Japa

An easy way to increase your devotion and concentration

Japa, consciously repeating sacred syllables, or phrases, over and over again, takes us to a state of concentration and devotion. Explore several ways of chanting which help you enjoy deeper meditations and become more spiritually aware.

Devotional Yoga, Mantram, Meditation
  • Mantra means a phrase that rescues the mind from its normal activities and habits. Japa is chanting the mantra repeatedly
  • Patanjali (Yoga Sutras) uses the term vritti to describe a wave of thought. The mantra creates a spiritual vritti, a powerful wave that rescues the mind from old habits
  • Join Ramakrishna Ananda as he chants Om
  • Habits of thought create deep grooves or samskars. The practice of japa, chanting a mantra with devotion, creates a strong counter-samskar, or impression, on the nervous system
  • The whole point is to discover Spirit and live awakened in Spirit. The goal of japa is spiritual awakening
  • Learn how to chant a mantra in each chakra to help the kundalini rise

Chanting A Mantra

Our habits of thought are like deep grooves or etchings in our nervous system. They are so strongly imprinted that they cannot easily be repressed or rationalized away. But chanting a mantra, the practice of japa done steadily with devotion, creates a strong counter-etching, a strong counter-samskar. Through japa, we form a strong samskar of holiness.
