Yogis love to meditate. The Bhagavad Gita states that the mind merges into the true self and contacts the bliss of pure consciousness. Here Ramakrishna Ananda uses his own experience and the writings of the Bhagavad Gita to share meditation insights.
I’m meditating all night. As the pre-dawn light revealed the trees and stirred the birds into song, I became aware of my gray squirrel friend standing at attention beside my left thigh. Slowly, I turned my eyes to my right leg. There I beheld my dear snake friend, standing and weaving in full attack mode. It looked like he was thinking of eating the squirrel! We all paused. When I placed my hand in the path of the snake, suddenly he did a U-turn in the air and slithered quickly into the forest. Slowly, my squirrel relaxed and hopped off in the opposite direction. It’s important how one’s friends treat each other.
