What is poise and why is it important? This state of balance, steadiness, stability, ease, and dignity of manner can be found by living in the state of yoga. Find out how to cultivate balance and begin to experience the reality of Spirit.

Devotion Increases Poise

If you devote yourself to God, you will gain poise day by day. Poise will abide in your mind,  body, and throughout your nerves and cells. Your body will be spirit-filled and spiritualized. In poise, you will see the one reality, Spirit, everywhere. Your part in that reality becomes clearer day by day.

  • How saints throughout history have taken a stand for truth, humanity and spiritual values with poise and confidence in God
  • In maya —the delusion that results from ignoring our soul and Spirit — we are easily distracted and flounder around
  • When poised, one is courageous, has grit and determination, and is able to speak one’s heart, mind and values
  • The Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the necessity of gaining poise in order to have peace and fight the battle of life
  • With poise, one has insight, welcomes truth, senses the eternal and establishes a balanced life

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
