As we grow in yoga, we find we want to serve. The love and light of Spirit within us naturally seeks to help others. Our developing attunement with soul and Spirit reveals how we can best express. Explore ways in which you can contribute to a better, happier world through your loving service.
Service comes naturally as a consequence of yoga practice, meditation and our walk with the Lord. The different yoga paths foster growing love and attunement which expresses through us in unique ways. Bhakta yogis receive inspiration as they practice loving God. Raja yogis attune their will with the Higher Power and serve the Higher Will. Jnana yogis develop wisdom and insight about how to help others. Karma yogis dedicate their work to the Lord and seek to be useful instruments through which God can express. Often karma yoga is combined with other practices.
The love and light of Spirit within you wants to serve God and your fellow human beings. Your growing love seeks to express through service to God, people and all of nature. The dictionary defines service as: to assist, honor, provide, sustain, care, give, promote, enable and protect. Contemplating these different aspects can help to motivate your service. It is a wonderful gift which you give to individuals and humanity in general.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
