RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Pointers for Bhakti Yoga

Ever had days when it is hard to feel love?

The goal of bhakti yoga is to cultivate a flow of love toward the Lord. You begin by directing your present thoughts and feelings Godward. Discover how you can become spiritually enlightened through bhakti yoga.

Bhakti Yoga

Start Where You Are

The goal of bhakti yoga is to direct your love and whole-hearted attention toward God. There will be days, however, when you need to rest and refresh your nerves. The point is, simply love and allow an interplay to develop between you and Spirit.

Start with your present emotions. Just confide in the Lord and allow your feelings to flow. As a result of this practice, you begin to direct attention, then love, appreciation and good will to the Lord of your heart.

  • The goal of bhakti yoga is to develop a flow of love Godward. Start with your present emotions and direct them toward the Lord
  • You may prefer to focus on a picture, statue or representation of a great soul — possibly Christ, Buddha or Krishna, for example
  • First, meditate with eyes open, looking at the form before you. Then direct your emotions to that holy one with your eyes closed
  • It is helpful to practice being aware of the presence of God throughout the day
  • Your nerves need rest and rejuvenation to function well on your spiritual journey. Nerve burn and fatigue indicate you are straining
  • It is important to live a balanced life if you seek to be a fulfilled yogi. Enjoy periods of rapture followed with periods of rest

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

I Commit to Serve

This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
