Clues for Finding Your Nature

How do I find the best yoga for me?

Becoming aware of your true nature is one of the joys of life. Yoga helps you discover your nature and accelerate your growth through specific techniques.

Find Your Way

Chanting Aum

In yoga we seek to become more aware of Spirit. Chanting the word aum helps us to realize Spirit is our essence and source of all life. Chanting helps us know our true nature.

When you are finished making the Aum sound, follow your awareness. It will usually go to the chest, forehead or crown of the head. If it goes to your chest, likely you are devotional in nature and the practice of bhakti yoga will help you make rapid, delightful progress. If it naturally floats to your forehead, raja yoga (the yoga of attuned will) probably suits you best. If it goes to the crown of the head, jnana yoga practices may be the most effective for you.

  • Discovering your nature helps determine the type of yoga which will be most effective for you
  • The talents and interests you had as a child often indicate your nature
  • During sunrise and sunset, when the breath and life force are in balance, your true nature is more accessible
  • Attuning with your rhythm, note and color helps you harmonize
  • Chanting aum and following the resulting energy flow can help in understanding whether you are dominantly a thinking, feeling or willing person
