RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Quotes — Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda

Why is it important to appreciate other spiritual paths?

This is the first in a series focusing on the words and teachings of a number of spiritual giants:  Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Sarada Devi, Jesus Christ and Krishna. Sri Ramakrishna (1836–1886) was a great yogi whose teachings changed the world. Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), Sri Ramakrishna’s leading disciple, brought the teachings of yoga to the West. They emphasized the harmony between all religions, as well as the various yoga paths. Allow yourself to be inspired by the words of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.

Stories, Sri Ramakrishna

Yoga Oneness

Yoga oneness is the harmony of body, mind and spirit, as well as harmony between the individual and the Infinite. Yoga, meditation and spiritual development allow each person to thrive on his/her chosen path. In our growing sense of oneness with others, we become inspired to work together to make a better world.

As we grow spiritually, we discover and center in awareness of the soul. When we live from our true self, our words and actions become expressions from our soul, the Spirit within. The spiritual paths of both East and West teach to go beyond ego, abide in Spirit, and allow It to express through you and bless others.

Quotes from Sri Ramakrishna

  • Bhakti yoga is prescribed for this age. You can have a relationship with God by singing His name and glories and praying to Him with a longing heart.
  • Loving and appreciating all paths will help you on your own path.
  • It is God, as guru or spiritual teacher, who helps you know who you are. Then the soul’s light shines through and you thrive.
  • I don’t want to become sugar; I want to eat sugar. I don’t want to become Spirit; I want to interplay with Spirit.

Quotes from Swami Vivekananda

  • What comes after we have realized the oneness of the universe and know that we are one with the Infinite Being? Then and then alone, we understand what love is.
  • So, what is left to the man/woman who has reached the self and seen the truth? He/she works only to do good, even when living in the body and working incessantly.
