RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Two Kinds of Brooding

Feeling troubled or weighed down by life?

There are two types of brooding — positive and negative — and they bring widely varying results. Brooding on Spirit and Its attributes of love, light, joy, harmony and abundance brings upliftment. Dwelling on negative objects only increases the turbulence of mind and emotions. Try a yoga visualization technique to establish blissful brooding and a more positive flow of awareness.

Spiritual Development

Tranquility Leads to Peace

The Bhagavad Gita states that the disciplined yogi who lives with the senses under control, free from attraction and aversion, gains in tranquility. Through this manner of living, one cultivates an untroubled, undisturbed consciousness.

Visualize yourself moving through life with the senses under control, free from attraction and aversion, growing in tranquility. As you abide there, you become aware of peace. You are no longer troubled or weighed down in any way. When peace is established, Divine energy can descend, bringing harmony and a new rhythm to your nature.

  • Brooding:  To sit on, to hatch, to hover over, protect or ponder
  • Through brooding we cultivate an attitude which allows us to go beyond the ego into Spirit and soul awareness
  • Focusing on positive qualities such as love and light leads to higher states of awareness
  • Avoid brooding on objects which stimulate negative thoughts and feelings
  • When one is free of attraction and aversion, one grows in peace and tranquility
