RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

What Is Peace?

Can we cultivate peace and actually live in it?

Peace is one of the great gifts of life. The great sages of yoga describe it as the cessation (stopping) of againstness. They explain that one can never find ongoing happiness without peace. Discover for yourself that peace is worth more than any amount of riches.

Spiritual Development

Yoga Is a Way of Peace

Yoga is a way of peace. Hatha yoga helps you find this peace by balancing the energy within your body. When it is balanced, you find serenity. Pranayama (breathing practice) brings the life force into equilibrium and fosters peace. Meditation cultivates profound peace.

Peace is one of the main gifts of yoga and one of the most valued attributes of a devotee. When we stop mental/emotional suffering, we come into peace. Throughout this series we explore various practices which cultivate peace.

  • Peace is an undisturbed state of mind, an absence of mental conflict, a cessation of againstness
  • Peace is most often blocked by our desires, cravings, angers and fears
  • The great yogi Patanjali (The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali):  Life and its events are for experience and liberation
  • As we examine troubling experiences and seek to understand their meaning, we can release them in peace
  • Yoga has many practices which cultivate peace
