Each worry, craving or fear which disturbs us can become a doorway through which we find peace. These concerns can become pathways to freedom, happiness and peace. Explore the way of the peacemaker as presented by Pema Chödrön (Practicing Peace). Instead of agitation or worry, you can live in peace. Becoming established in peace, you are a true benefit to humanity.
Any area within you not at peace is actually a doorway through which you can find peace. Our frustrations can open us to an energy which dissolves tension, fear, suffering and regret.
Start with one of your worries or cravings. Now, courageously face the impulse which disturbs your peace. Behind that fear or craving is what Pema Chödrön calls a soft spot. Mentally touch that fear or craving. As you maintain contact with it, there comes a change. Possibly the fear dissolves and understanding comes. Just be open to what occurs – perhaps insight, peace or pure love come into your mind.
We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
