RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Dealing with Challenges (and Rascals) — Part 1

How do we make the best of difficult situations?

Challenges call for special effort and dedication. They offer opportunities to grow and develop. Learn how yogis deal with challenging situations and problematic people.

Essential Life Skills

The Soul Wishes to Express

When dealing with challenging situations and people, a yogi seeks to distinguish between the ego and the soul. Responding in an egoic way is very destructive and problematical. When stressed, we are usually unable to think clearly or assess the consequences.

Consider the wishes of the soul:  My soul, Spirit within me, wants to express love and light. What does it wish to do about this person or situation?

  • The benefit of difficult experiences is that they promote growth and development
  • Challenges are inevitable — seek to realize their benefits and positive value
  • In meeting challenges, the yogi distinguishes between what the ego wants versus what the soul wants
  • Study past challenges and consider both what the ego desired and, conversely, what the soul wanted
