How to Make Progress

Learn the secret to greater devotion and focus

Devotees do not make progress if they have confused priorities and lack a yearning for God and Spirit. Yearning concentrates and focuses the mind, leading to a state of devotion which in turn brings realization.

First Steps, Devotion

The Importance of Yearning

Sri Ramakrishna said, ‘Yearning concentrates the mind.’ Yearning develops the awareness that God is important to you. Further yearning establishes God as most important. Yearning begins this beautiful process. Yearning becomes devotion, which becomes surrender and, ultimately, becomes realization.
