RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

What is this Thing Called Peng?

Try Peng for greater health and vitality

Ramakrishna Ananda shares an important concept from Tai Chi called peng. He shows how peng can be combined with postures to improve our physical and energy bodies, especially our joints.

Essential Life Skills, Prana/Life Force, Health

Applying Peng is a Renewal

Awareness of peng gives you a feeling of renewal. It’s a marvelous sense of freedom — freedom in joints, freedom of movement, and freedom of being. You may feel a spongy, buoyant quality in the rocks beneath your feet and in everything inside you.

As you progress in applying peng, you walk and you live lighter, softer, more aware, more peaceful, more coordinated, more elastic and less pressured by a sense of heaviness.

  • Learn the differentiation between Tai Chi and Taiji
  • The idea of peng is from Taiji, which works with the polarities of Yin and Yang, balancing the life force
  • Discover how peng can counter gravity, which tends to make the joints and spine stiffen as we age
  • I am as young as my joints. How are my joints?
  • The process of using peng to extend the space between the joints and vertebrae
  • How this elastic force of peng can make joints feel better and help the skeleton feel more buoyant
