Silence and Yoga Dynamics

Are you cooperating with Spirit?

There are dynamic processes in yoga which can help us grow. As we allow them to operate, a series of events develop which lead to success. Understanding them helps us cooperate with the process rather than ignoring or blocking it. Silence is one of the most important and essential dynamics on the spiritual path. Learn how to experience true silence, allowing it to bless your life.

Spiritual Development

One Thing Leads to Another

There are many dynamics which come into play when one practices yoga. One thing powerfully leads to another if we understand and cooperate with the process rather than ignoring or interfering with it.

Silence releases most of our preoccupations with the outer world. You don’t have to make silence work. It often goes like this but may vary:  Abiding in vocal silence. Next comes mental/emotional silence. What then follows is: witness consciousness, peace, bliss, soul awareness, expanded soul awareness and, ultimately, awareness of Spirit.

  • Shedding tension from the body and turbulence from the mind/emotions leads to an increased harmony of body, mind and spirit
  • Bhakti yoga progression: spiritual companionship leads to faith, followed by yearning and one-pointedness. This leads to a natural flow of love which takes you to bhavas (moods of love)
  • Sri Yukteswar Giri (The Holy Science) describes the dynamics of growth which lead to love, the heart’s true feeling
  • Patanjali explains how control of the five kinds of ideas grows into soul-centeredness
  • Breathing practices (pranayamas) allow one to balance the life force and, ultimately, live in the soul
  • Silence calms the ego and triggers spiritual dynamics
