Overcoming the Five Kleshas

How to go beyond the afflictions and live in harmony

You can’t make yoga happen — you need to let it happen. You cooperate with it. You allow yoga to awaken you to the harmony of body, mind and Spirit and the harmony between yourself and people around the world. You explore the afflictions which keep you from experiencing harmony and cause most of your suffering. Find out how to deal with the five kleshas and enjoy the benefits of yoga.

  • Through yoga practices we shed tension and turbulence and develop an awareness of harmony in body, breath, thoughts and emotions
  • Meditation and awakening bring higher consciousness experiences of peace, bliss and ecstasy
  • Wonderful insights, assurances, and other treasures can occur as you develop the practice of harmony
  • Yogis teach that there are five afflictions (kleshas) that cause most of human suffering and keep us from living in harmony
  • Understand and work with the kleshas. They fall away as you grow in awareness

The Kleshas

Kleshas are the afflictions which keep people from living in harmony, from experiencing the yoga state. The beauty, the solution to all five kleshas:  practice some yoga. Shed the tension from your body, the turbulence from your mind and your life-force. Let yoga help you. The afflictions drop off as you grow in awareness. The solution is to cultivate harmony and enjoy a conscious interplay between your little self and this grand universe.

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
