RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Raja Yoga in a Nutshell — Part 1

Is raja yoga the right path for you?

Raja yoga is for those who seek enlightenment by awakening their spiritual faculties and attuning with God’s will. They practice character development, mental focus, and attunement with God in meditation. Through raja yoga practice you can discover that you are a spiritual being, living in a world of Spirit.

Raja Yoga

Awaken Your Unrealized Powers

You are a spiritual being. The steady effort to hold this awareness can awaken dormant powers and unveil to you the accessibility and nearness of the Divine. Patanjali writes that the right use of the will is the steady effort to stand and remain in spiritual being.

  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a treasured resource for raja yoga students
  • Raja yogis unite their personal consciousness with the universal, Divine Consciousness to discover their eternal essence
  • Patanjali identified five kinds of ideas and related feelings (vrittis) which block us from discovering Spirit:  right knowledge, wrong knowledge, numbness, fantasies and memories
  • When we calm the vrittis, we dwell in our true nature
  • Awakening spiritual will leads to lasting happiness and fulfillment
  • Patanjali Sutra 113:  The right use of the will is the steady effort to abide in spiritual awareness.
