RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Zen Aids for Awakening

Explore how Zen koans can help release mental turbulence

Yogis want to have a calm, clear mind. Zen koans are designed to clear the mind. They help to bypass the ego and can open us to spiritual insights.

Stories

Appreciate Koans

Yogis from time to time take the help of Zen or other scriptures from around the world as inspiration points, as opportunities to go deeper on one’s own path. Yogis have great appreciation for the koans of Zen.

  • Zen employs koans to awaken us to Spirit
  • Koans are questions or phrases which can force us to a greater awareness of reality. A few koans are nonsense syllables which perplex the mind
  • Koans are designed to push the mind aside and get us unstuck
  • Koan:  to lose yourself is to find yourself
  • Koan:  the wave and the sea are one

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

I Commit to Serve

This commitment is solely between you and your inner self.
