Abiding in Harmony

How do we best respond to challenging situations?

We often face choices and situations in life which serve as tests. They show us how we are doing and what we still need to learn. Explore yogic approaches to dealing with life’s tests. You can have more insight, clarity and better outcomes as you abide in the true self, not the ego.

Life Is a Series of Tests

This world is the place of examinations. These tests provide opportunities for soul and Spirit to express easily, skillfully and naturally through us. Here are some yogic approaches to deal with the challenging situations and choices we regularly face:

  • First, find and stay in your vibration (as distinct from ego) as you face a test.
  • Secondly, in dealing with a problem, witness or observe it in a clear, detached way — as if you are watching another person. Witnessing often provides a better understanding of the situation and what action is needed.
  • Also, when facing a difficult situation, consider how to express the intrinsic values of truth, beauty and goodness. One or all of them, plus love and compassion, are ideal for dealing with the tests of life.
  • Other helpful questions are:  How can I express skill in action here? How do I allow soul and Spirit to express?
  • Yoga has developed various approaches to dealing with life’s tests and choices
  • Maintaining an awareness of your vibration allows you to approach situations while centered in the true self
  • Calmly witnessing an event puts you in touch with your vibration and leads to more insight, clarity and an improved ability to function
  • Challenging situations often provide opportunities to express the intrinsic values of truth, beauty and goodness
  • Yoga is skill in action. Attuning with your inner resources aids in expressing skillfully
  • Consider:  How do I express soul and Spirit in this challenging situation?

How to Succeed

As you may know, we do not charge for our courses. All Yoga World content is free and available to you with our blessings. However, we do have a simple, but important request that’s key to the transformations necessary to succeed on the path.

We ask you to commit two hours a week to selfless service. This service can be anything you choose ranging from helping a family member or neighbor to volunteering at a nonprofit organization.

I Commit to Serve
