RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

The Shambhavi Gaze

Are you living as a spiritual being?

Through dedicated yoga practice, we seek attunement with the true self, the Spirit within. As we allow these realizations to abide in us, nurture us and express through us, we become yogis. Learn practices which lead to contacting and living from the atman, the inner guru. You are meant to live as a spiritual being in a spiritual world

Live in the Effect

In a nutshell, to be a yogi is to live beyond the practice state. Practicing yoga is like milking the cow. The next thing to do is drink the milk and be nourished by it. First is yoga practice and next is the attunement you receive from the practice. Living in the momentum of your attunement enables you to first become a yogi and then sustains you as a yogi.

The point of yoga is to live in its effect. Allow yoga to become a part of you, nurture you and express through you, bringing new levels of awareness. Then you can live as an awakened spiritual being in a spiritual world.

  • The shambhavi practice helps to open the third eye and reveal the atman
  • To practice shambhavi, calmly focus your gaze either approximately 20 feet in front of you or into space
  • Chanting in the chakras (energy centers) is another way of discovering the inner guru and finding the atman
  • Hong Sau/So Hum is a practice of witnessing the breath from the third eye or nostril rims, leading to kumbhaka (breath poise)
  • All who become yogis, whichever yoga they practice, one day merge their consciousness with the Divine
  • The yogi then lives as a spiritual being, conscious of the spiritual world. Life becomes an interplay between Spirit and Its creation
