RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

Recall Your Inner Purity — Part 1

What is necessary for fulfillment in yoga?

Swami Yatiswarananda (The Divine Life) writes that purity is a necessity for fulfillment in yoga. Explore the many yoga practices which help develop inner purity. Discover how spiritual life begins with purification practices.

Spiritual Development

Develop a Pure Mind

Strive to respect, appreciate and develop purity. Purity of mind is inseparable from spiritual life. Develop an alert mind which is sensitive to morality. Consider what is the right, constructive and loving choice. Avoid the slightest thing which leads to sorrow. Swami Yatiswarananda:  Only the pure mind can think of Spirit in an unbroken stream.

  • Striving to find and maintain purity is essential in yoga
  • Swami Yatiswarananda: Spiritual life begins when we become free of the three types of complexes:  sex, ego and herd.
  • Purity of mind is inseparable from spiritual life — develop a thoughtful, alert mind sensitive to morality
  • Chandogya Upanishad:  Purity of mind comes through purity of whatever comes in through the senses.
  • Purity through the senses reduces spiritual ignorance and ego separateness
  • Swami Yatiswarananda:  Only the pure mind can think of Spirit in an unbroken stream.
