RAMAKRISHNA ANANDA

The Mystery of Tapas — Part 2

Are you ready for more transformations?

Enjoy a transforming tapas journey (effort that transforms) which will help recast your body into a spiritual mode. Re-create your speech so it never injures anyone and clear your mind so you gain self-control.

Spiritual Development, Habits, Transformation
  • Swami Chidbhavananda, in his commentary of the Bhagavad Gita, writes that tapas is a transformer — it melts down the old and creates the new
  • The main physical tapas: dedicating your body to the service of God and soul and then living life in balance and unity
  • The tapas of speech: use speech which is truthful, pleasant and beneficial
  • Sacred repetition of mantra and scripture is also tapas of speech
  • The tapas of mind: releasing worry and confusion while choosing constructive thoughts and emotions
  • Tapas brings ecstasy

Tapas of the Mind

The tapas of mind is to maintain a benign mental state under all circumstances, thus becoming a serene person. Develop a congenial temperament. Develop a positive attitude that leads to happiness. Remember, tapas must be done with the goal of melting and re-creating. Melt down the old. Aligned with your soul, you gain a determined, purposeful mind. You’ll enter ecstasy on a regular basis. You will discover that your use of tapas is extremely rewarding and totally worthwhile.

I Commit to Serve
