Your True Self — Part 1

Explore a quick way to experience inner peace and joy

Raja yoga focuses on the true self, the soul or atman, which is already within us. The goal is to experience and live in our true nature. Learn a quick way to experience the inner self. Discover how to proceed through the four steps of meditation.

Raja Yoga

The Gold Is Already Within You

In the Yoga Sutras Patanjali writes:  You can compare your spiritual self to precious gold. The gold is already within you but is covered, hidden in a kind of a mud. The project is not to find the gold but to remove the obstructions covering the gold.  We can release the thoughts and feelings which obscure the precious inner self and free ourselves from thinking we are the mud. We then begin to discover we are really the gold.

  • The problem is we don’t live in the awareness of our true self
  • Patanjali described the process for discovering the spiritual man or woman within by saying:  You can compare your spiritual self to precious gold.
  • Meditation is the way to become free of mental/emotional bondage and experience the true self
  • Meditation has four steps or levels
