In the view of yoga, we are created by the Divine to go through various experiences, eventually discovering our true nature. Then we can enter into the divine interplay between the individual soul and the Infinite Soul. Yoga practices help us develop these realizations.
A beginning stage is buddhi awareness (witnessing of the mind) which brings clarity and the ability to make good decisions. Explore a question and answer session on topics such as maya (delusion), free will, grace, villains and suffering. Discover how you can relate to Spirit and allow It to express in all areas of your life.
A major question: Why are people self-destructive? Yogis say it is because they are not in contact with the buddhi, the consciousness which watches the mind and provides insight, conscience and wisdom. Their sense of self has been overwhelmed by thoughts and feelings. They lose their ability to access good judgment and make positive choices.
The way out, especially in times of stress, challenge and temptation, is to seek the help of the buddhi. When one is in touch with the buddhi, one is able to view thoughts/feelings with clarity. Contact with the inner witness confers the ability to choose wisely. The ancient yogis prayed and meditated in the hope of achieving an unshakeable buddhi. The buddhi needs to be so developed that its wisdom is available in all circumstances.
